Overview:

Working in the healthcare setting can be physically and mentally exhausting. This presentation emphasizes the importance of self care to promote wellness. Learning objectives aim to strengthen the understanding of how work stress impacts compassion fatigue, identify warning signs, coping mechanisms, and self awareness to promote overall self care and wellness.

Presenter:

Christie Leuth, Clinical Director of Children and Counseling Services, Southeastern Behavioral Healthcare

Christie Lueth has worked in the mental health field for the past 16 years. She attended The University of South Dakota for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She obtained her Bachelors of Social Work in 2005 and graduated with her Masters of Social Work in 2012. Christie is currently licensed as a CSW-PIP in the state of South Dakota. She recently completed EMDR training and is working toward obtaining her Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential. Christie specializes in mental health and early childhood. She is currently the Clinical Director of Children and Counseling Services through her agency and also oversees a 5 year SAMHSA Early Childhood grant. She has experience in case management, administration, program development, supervision, and clinical therapy. Christie serves as NAMI SD’s Board Chair and was recently appointed to South Dakota’s Behavioral Health Advisory Committee. Christie lives in Sioux Falls with her husband, Brad, and their two children, Elliot and Mallory.
