Food Safety Hotline

Overview:

The importance of food safety and sound systems has been heightened given the pandemic relative to infection control and consumer confidence.  During this session we will review relevant trends in senior living surveys and reinvigorate an interest and pride in food safety and sanitation programs.

Objectives:

• Review trends in survey citations relative to food safety/sanitation
• Reinvigorate the importance of the basics in food safety programs

Julie Halfpop, Director of Nutrition Services, Martin Bros. Distributing Inc.

Julie Halfpop is the team leader of 7 dietitians who provide menu and other value-added services to senior living and healthcare foodservice customers. Passionate about the senior living industry, Julie has devoted almost 35 years to inspiring excellence in dining. Having managed food & nutrition departments, she challenges her team daily to develop and administer tools and services that will promote successful management of the industry’s opportunities & challenges. Her favorite topics of conversation revolve around menus, developing marketable dining experiences, controlling costs, and coaching staff.

Julie is a graduate of Iowa State University with a BS in Food & Nutrition/Dietetics and has a long history of teaching the Dietary Manager courses, public speaking, and a creative approach to serving others.
