Overview:

Attend this session to understand the regulations surrounding an Infection Prevention and Control Program within a long-term care community. This informative event will describe the role of the Infection Prevention and Control Program and its significance in maintaining resident safety.  Presenter, Shelly Bhola will provide an in-depth analysis of illnesses most common to residents seen in the long-term care facility and how to treat them safely while providing a home-like environment for residents and staff.  Bring your lunch and your questions, as Shelly discusses hot topics surrounding infection prevention and control!

This session is specifically designed to educate those having control and oversight of the Infection Prevention and Control Program, including Administrators, Directors of Nursing, Nurse Managers, Registered Nurses and the designated Infection Prevention and Control Officer.

Presenter: Shelly Bhola, Infection Preventionist, Advanced Health Institutes

Shelley Bhola has over 30 years of experience in the long term care and the assisted living market. Her previous roles include: Staff nurse, Director of Nursing, Regional Consultant, Case Manager for managed care in the community and public health, MDS coordinator, staff educator, infection prevention nurse, regulatory crisis management and leadership training. She is board certified in gerontology and received her Master’s of Science in Nursing with an emphasis on Nursing Education. Shelley has worked in the area of Infection Prevention since 1997. She has received education on Infection Prevention from Region’s hospital in MN, APIC Academy, and ACHA Infection Prevention and Control, the CDC TRAIN program on Infection Prevention, and has received her CIC certification through CBIC. She is currently working for Pathway Health as a Nurse Consultant.
