Overview:

This training will discuss why abuse occurs, how to report abuse and neglect, how referrals are screened, the assessment of present and impending danger, the Initial Family Assessment, and present danger plans.

Presenter:

JoLynn Bostrom, Protective Services Program Specialist, Dept. of Social Service Division of Child Protection

JoLynn Bostrom currently serves as the Protective Services Program Specialist for Child Protection Services for the Department of Social Services. She obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Science from the South Dakota School of Mines in Technology in 2002.

JoLynn began her work with the Division of Child Protection Services as a Social Worker/Family Services Specialist on July 8, 2002. She first worked in the Rapid City office and relocated to the Sturgis office in 2004. In August 2007, she was promoted to Lead Family Services Specialist and in January 2009, JoLynn was promoted to Family Services Supervisor, supervising the Sturgis and Belle Fourche offices. In October 2014, JoLynn was further promoted to her current position of Protective Services Program Specialist. JoLynn currently services on the following workgroups: Coordinator for the Justice for Children’s Committee, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) workgroup, Child Protection Management Team, Comprehensive Safety Invention (CSI) workgroup, Interagency Coordinating Council, and was appointed by the Governor to the CASA Commission Board Member.
