2023 saw improvements in margins for hospitals due to increased volumes.  However, cost increases in labor and nonlabor spending are holding margins in check, with the average hospital still operating at a loss. Nonlabor cost reduction offers reliable margin improvement opportunities, with low cultural disruption. With its vastness and lack of visibility, there is no shortage of opportunities. Peter is a Managing Director in FORVIS’ Health Care Performance Improvement group and leads its nonlabor cost reduction practice.

​Peter was Founder/CEO of Strategic Sourcing Results, Inc., a nationally recognized nonlabor cost reduction consultancy. Prior to that, he led Andersen’s Midwest Healthcare Supply Chain practice and its firmwide negotiations training class.​ He is a frequent speaker and author on the topics of cost reduction and contracting in healthcare.

Over 30 years, Peter has helped clients achieve a margin lift averaging 2% of net revenues, and tracks an average 3YR ROI on fees of 18 to 1.
