Dr. Marsha Linehan, the renowned psychologist and author who created Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for the treatment of suicidality and borderline personality disorder, will speak in Sioux Falls on Sept. 12.
The conference is hosted by Avera Health as part of Avera’s Zero Suicide Initiative.
Linehan will offer an overview of DBT aimed at a broad audience, including health care administrators, social workers, nurses, the general public and anyone whose life has been affected in some way by mental illness. DBT therapy in recent years has also been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of other conditions such as depression, substance dependence, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and eating disorders.
Linehan’s talk is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. CDT at the Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel. The cost is $150 per participant and $75 per student. Click here to register.
