As part of the 90th Annual Convention, SDAHO has scheduled a day of education with health care governance in mind. Trustees are invited and encouraged to attend the entire convention and participate in any events. However, Thursday’s programming has been designed with topics to address their specific needs.
- “A Primer for Effective Strategic Planning” will feature Sharon Chontos, owner/partner of Sage Project Consultants. A strong strategic plan not only helps get everyone in your organization on the same page, but it ensures it’s the right page. Chontos will share new insights and demonstrate how a solid plan can help to re-invigorate and get excitement back into your organization. (Thursday, Sept. 22, 9-10:30 a.m.)
- “Succession Planning: CEO Transition – Ready or Not” will feature Dan Ellis, PhD, FACHE, Sumption and Wyland. Board work can be challenging in these changing times. The task becomes even more challenging during times of leadership change. Ellis will outline eight critical steps that boards should undertake to ready themselves for the probable event of a CEO transition. He will cover key elements of a successful succession/transition plan for replacing your CEO and ways to minimize disruption to the rest of the organization. (Thursday, Sept 22, 10:45-11:45 a.m.)
- “What’s New in Healthcare Finance and What You Must Know to Effectively Lead” will feature Geoff Knobloch, partner with Eide Bailly, who will lead a discussion on what trustees must know in today’s world of health care finance. (Thursday, Sept 22, 1:45-2:45 p.m.)
In addition to programming, a Thursday trustee luncheon is planned to provide an opportunity to network and share information.
The SDAHO 90th Annual Convention will be Sept. 21-23, at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Online registration is available here. Mark your calendars and plan to bring your trustees to the convention to celebrate 90 years of caring, advocacy and impact.
