The latest job numbers show that health care employment rose by 31,000 jobs in October.
New data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that most of those jobs were added in ambulatory health care services (more than 19,000) and hospitals (more than 13,000). Health care has added 415,000 jobs over the past 12 months.
Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 161,000 last month. The unemployment rate (4.9 percent) and the number of unemployed persons (7.8 million) changed little in October.
