The American Hospital Association (AHA) will hold the Rural Hospital Policy Forum, July 19-20. SDAHO board member, Bryan Slaba, administrator/CEO of Wagner Community Memorial Hospital Avera and CEO/President, Scott A. Duke, will attend the event.
Participants will hear firsthand from Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-North Dakota Health Resources & Services Administrator George Sigounas and others about federal actions to address critical issues facing rural hospitals. AHA Executive Vice President Tom Nickels will moderate a Congressional staff panel and provide an update on AHA advocacy priorities, including extending special rural payment programs and ensuring access in vulnerable communities through expanded telehealth and alternative payment models.
Given the current Senate debate on the Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA), Slaba and Duke will also make Hill visits to share our concerns with South Dakota’s Congressional delegation.
