The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) last week announced it will not update its overall hospital quality star ratings on Hospital Compare in October. CMS has indicated it wants to continue to examine the potential changes to the methodology in light of public feedback. The star ratings as released last December will remain on the Hospital Compare website until the next update. The AHA has repeatedly advised CMS to consider alternative approaches to the star ratings and address the flaws in the methodology.
