The primary election results are in and campaigning for the Nov. 6 general election is in full swing. Congresswoman Kristi Noem (R) will face State Senator Billie Sutton (D) in the gubernatorial race. For South Dakota’s at-large Congressional seat, Dusty Johnson (R) will face former Judge Tim Bjorkman (D). Neither of South Dakota’s U.S. Senate seats are up for election this cycle.

The primary was a critical election for several state legislative seats. The SDAHO PAC committee contributed $9,500 in the primary in support of six Senate seats and 20 House seats. Of the six Senate candidates that SDAHO supported, three won. Sixteen of the 20 House candidates SDAHO supported also won their primaries. The SDAHO PAC committee will reconvene and decide which candidates to support in the general election.

SDAHO has launched its annual PAC campaign drive. Facility and individual contributions, as well as raffle ticket purchases, are key in supporting legislative candidates who understand and support the needs of the health care community during the 2019 legislative session.
