The South Dakota Legislature is gearing up for the 2019 session

On Dec. 3 at 8 a.m. the fifth and final meeting of the Access to Mental Health Services Study Committee will be held to review and discuss draft legislation for the upcoming session.

On Dec. 3 at 11:30 a.m. the Joint Committee on Appropriations will be meeting. Their agenda is a bit more aggressive.  A few highlights will be the Attorney General’s status update on the investigation and litigation of the opioid lawsuit, the Department of Health report on the Rural Family Medicine Residency Program and Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon’s update on the coordinated care agreements and Medicaid 100 percent Federal Medical Assistance Percentages (FMAP) savings.  The SD Legislative Research Council (LRC) performed two program evaluations for Drug Courts and Dakota at Home. These reports and other related documents will be made available as soon as they are loaded on the LRC website.

On Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. Gov. Dennis Daugaard will give his final budget address to the SD legislature. The Governor’s slide presentation and fiscal year 2020 budget detail and summary books will be uploaded and made open to the public during his speech.
