South Dakota Compass HIIN Hospitals Making a Difference

The 42 South Dakota Compass HIIN Hospitals have been dedicated to improving quality, patient safety and value for their organizations. With the support and guidance of Jennifer Kok, the SDAHO Compass HIIN dedicated Improvement Advisor, the 42 hospitals have made significant gains over the last two years in standardized reporting, identifying improvement areas, and overall boost the quality of care for South Dakota residents. With two years of SD Compass HIIN data, these hospitals have helped to develop a reliable, actionable, and quantifiable dataset for all 38 South Dakota critical access hospitals (CAHs) and a number of larger hospitals across the state.

SDAHO is proud to help prepare these hospitals, in particular the CAHs for potential mandated quality payment programs that will come in the future. This trending over time also helps SDAHO evaluate meaningful performance and identification of high performers. SDAHO is proud to share with the overall membership the results of the 42 SD Compass HIIN acute care hospitals using the IHC Compass HIIN cost estimates that have been avoided over the last 24 months:
