SDAHO visits D.C.

This week, SDAHO’s VP of Post-Acute Care, Tammy Hatting, and the Administrator of Sanford Chamberlain Care Center, Erica Peterson, attended the Leading Age annual Leadership Summit in Washington, DC. This year’s meeting focused on the changing healthcare and service delivery landscape in post-acute care including payment reform, technology advances and changing consumer expectations. As the landscape changes, the fundamental work of aging services organizations must also evolve and anticipate the emerging trends.

Tammy is now a Leading Age Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST) Commissioner and attended a special session to discuss the latest development in quality of life technologies and how to advance social connectedness and engagement with the aging population. Erica attended an invitation-only round-table discussion with CMS to give them direct feedback on the impact of the regulations on our South Dakota nursing homes.

The last day of the conference included a visit to Capitol Hill where they visited the offices of Senators Thune & Rounds and Representative Johnson for South Dakota to ask for their support on H.R. 1265, the Nursing Home Workforce Quality Act and S. 433 the Home Health Payment Innovation Act. Key areas of focus in the discussion were on reimbursement, regulations, rural workforce and innovation.
