CMS to Hold National Provider Calls on Co-location and Ligature Risk in Hospitals

CMS will hold a National Provider Calls on the draft guidanceĀ ligature risk in hospitals on Thursday, June 20 at 1 p.m. (CST). CMS revised the guidance to provide direction and clarity around the care and safety of psychiatric patients at risk of harm to themselves or others. In addition, CMS added a new section to Chapter 2, describing the process for deemed and non-deemed hospitals to request a ligature risk extension. CMS is seeking input on compliance with the Conditions of Participation and the ligature risk extension request process.

Registration is required. Comments and questions can be emailed in advance to HospitalSCG@cms.hhs.gov with June 20 in the subject line.

CMS will hold a National Provider Calls on the draft guidanceĀ  hospital co-location on Thursday, June 27 at 1 p.m. CST.Ā  Under the Medicare Conditions of Participation, hospitals may co-locate with other hospitals or health care entities, meaning they share certain common areas on the same campus or building. CMS seeks input on staffing, contracted services, emergency services, and distinct and shared spaces.
