In the first 9 months of 2019, SDAHO has grown its educational offerings over 2018 by 260%, primarily in the area of post-acute care. This tremendous growth and positive response from our members reinforces the value created by providing training, networking and education for South Dakota’s hospitals, nursing homes, home health, hospice and assisted living providers.
As a response to this growth and continued focus on education, SDAHO created a Director of Education position and has hired Michella Sybesma to fill that role. Michella is a graduate of the University of South Dakota with a BBS-HSAD degree and is a licensed nursing home administrator. Michella started her career as a nursing home administrator in Tripp, South Dakota and continued working for the Good Samaritan Society as a Home Care Director, supporting home care agencies with operational support, education, and regulatory guidance. Michella spent nine years in home care before transitioning to Avera eCARE as their Partner Relations Manager where she worked with executive leadership on developing key messages and preparing leadership for national speaking engagements. In her role as the director of education for SDAHO, Michella will be responsible for planning, developing and executing all education events and material such as webinars, in-person training, conference sessions, resource documents and nurse leadership program.
