The last few weeks the SDAHO team has been traveling across the state of South Dakota hosting legislative forums. These forums bring together legislators and health care leaders to discuss the association’s member priorities regarding the upcoming 2020 legislative session. The forums provide a great opportunity to dialog about the important issues impacting health care in preparation for the upcoming 95th Session of the South Dakota Legislature.
At each event, we covered a brief overview of the Governor’s proposed budget and its impact on providers in the state. Other topics of discussion were acute care and post-acute care challenges and informational updates. Our team spent time discussing proposed legislation that had developed during the interim summer study committees and approved by the executive board. These bills were pre-filed and will show up on the South Dakota Legislative Research Council’s website soon. The final discussion topic were federal issues the association is monitoring for the members.
