Department of Human Services FY21 Budget Hearing

Shawnee Rechtenbaugh, Secretary, of the Department of Human Services (DHS) continued her budget briefing from Dec. 10 to the Joint Committee on Appropriations (JCA). DHS operates on a $453M budget with 40% being state funds and 60% federal funds, DHS has budgeted 594 FTEs.
The Secretary discussed Programs/Initiatives of the department from providers rate setting workgroups:
  • Assisted Living Rate Tiers recommendations,
  • Community Support Providers and
  • Nursing Home Providers
The final rate setting recommendations will be presented to the legislature in August prior to FY22 budget setting.
Other areas discussed were the Nursing Home Innovation Grants with the intent to improve quality of life, model of care, employee recruitment and retention. Total of awards: $2.3M, a detail listing of awards and description.
