There are a number of events this week focused on hospital mergers and acquisitions and financials that could generate national media attention, as well as interest from local media. More details on those events, as well as a number of efforts the American Hospital Association (AHA) has already taken and additional resources to assist you with any potential media inquiries follow.

Documentary on ‘The Healthcare Divide’ in America to Premiere May 18. A new documentary, The Healthcare Divide, will premiere tonight and is a collaboration between FRONTLINE, NPR and American University’s Investigative Reporting Workshop. The documentary’s website states it will investigate “the growing inequities in American healthcare exposed by COVID-19. The Healthcare Divide examines how pressure to increase profits and uneven government support is widening the divide between rich and poor hospitals, endangering care for low-income populations.” More information on the documentary, including where it will air and how to watch it, is available on NPR’s website.

‘INHOSPITABLE’ Documentary Likely to Premiere Soon. INHOSPITABLE is a documentary feature film that “exposes American hospitals’ significant role in our broken healthcare system,” according to the film’s website. While specifics about the film’s release are not yet posted on the website, it appears that it likely will be released soon as the group’s promotional efforts have started to increase.
