States Come Together to Advocate for Rural Health

This week, SDAHO’s Chief Operating Officer, Tammy Hatting and several providers from South Dakota attended the 2022 American Hospital Association (AHA) Rural Health Care Leadership Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

Rural hospital leaders across the United States gathered together to discuss strategy, quality, governance and innovation. One session was led by Bill Gassen and Matthew Hocks of Sanford Health on “The Next Frontier: Expanding Access in Rural Areas through Virtual Care”  where they announced a virtual care initiative designed to transform health care for populations in rural and underserved areas.  Hatting attended an association roundtable to collaborate with other states on workforce concerns, regulatory compliance and tools to help our members.

As the health care industry continues to change at a rapid pace, SDAHO will work with AHA to support their rural advocacy agenda for flexible payment options, adequate reimbursement, connected care, prescription drug prices and a strong workforce.  AHA will be hosting their annual membership meeting in Washington DC on April 24-26.
