*** IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR NURSING HOMES *** CMS releases updated Phase 3 guidance // QSO-22-19-NH (6/29/22) Revisions to Surveyor Guidance for Phases 2 & 3, Arbitration Agreement Requirements, Investigating Complaints & Facility Reported Incidents, and the Psychosocial Outcome Severity Guide. Surveyors will begin using this guidance to identify noncompliance on October 24, 2022. LeadingAge is actively working on additional tools and resources to assist with compliance and will be providing more detailed information on each section of guidance in coming days.Ā  Key Points:

  • Requirement for all facilities to have a part-time infection preventionist
  • Prohibits facilities from requiring residents to sign binding arbitration agreements
  • Ensures timely investigations
  • Revises the Psychosocial Outcome Severity Guide
  • Recommends no more than 2 residents per room
  • ADT policy on evidence of residentā€™s status
  • Attention on MH and SUD ā€“ policies, procedures, training & psychotropic medications
  • PBJ data for surveyors to ensure minimum staffing standards
  • Visitation restrictions revised
  • Training resources will be available here
