On Demand Education for Physicians, NPs and PAs on Advance Care Planning, South Dakota Documents and Billing

Physicians and providers who work with patients with advanced age and/or life limiting illnesses recognize that it is important to understand and honor the patient’s wishes when delivering healthcare services. Unfortunately, the language, laws, and paperwork associated with this can be nearly as daunting as medical management.

Through a partnership with the South Dakota Department of Health, Avel is pleased to offer education to help physicians and providers demystify the South Dakota-specific laws and forms relevant to code status, advance care planning, and desired end of life care, making it possible to focus on what really matters to their patients.

This education can be completed online at your convenience and provides a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Learners should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. In addition, this also meets the American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (ABPLM) requirements for a total of 1.5 management hours toward certification as a Certified Medical Director (CMD) in post-acute and long-term care medicine.

To access the Grief and Loss education and toolkit, please Register here. Please complete all fields. If you do not find your facility listed, please select the ‘Other’ option in the dropdown box.
