Pioneer Memorial Hospital and Health Services Kayla Mehlhaf, CNP Talks Healthcare and Job Opportunities

To help member facilities with workforce needs, SDAHO has launched the Hometown Healthcare Heroes campaign. The campaign is designed to recognize and celebrate member facilities, the people that work there and the communities they live in, while recognizing and promoting job opportunities within member facilities. This week we hear from Kayla Mehlhaf, Certified Nurse Practitioner about her role working in healthcare and opportunities for others to join the Pioneer Memorial team.

Kayla’s role at Pioneer Memorial Hospital and Health Services is to save lives while providing quality healthcare to her patients. Kayla recognizes having so many healthcare services in such a rural community, is a blessing for Viborg and area towns. “There have been some patients that have come in that possibly would not have made it, if we wouldn’t have been here, if we wouldn’t have been so close. They are not only my patients, but they are also my community members that I interact with on a daily basis, so it’s more than just being a healthcare provider, I am their neighbor too” Kayla went to high school in a neighboring community only 10 miles where she works today. She never thought she’d have a career so close to her hometown, but she is thankful for the opportunity. “You get into this place and I’m going to stay here forever because I love my job, it’s a rewarding job and it’s a great facility.  It’s a great place to work.”
