SDAHO Honors Board Member, Mark Schmidt

During SDAHO’s Annual Convention Membership Meeting, Tim Rave, SDAHO CEO, presented Mark Schmidt, President of the Sturgis Hospital and Market & Lead-Deadwood Hospital and Market, with an award honoring his years of service to the SDAHO Board.  Beginning his service in 2003, Mark has served a total of 17 years on the SDAHO Board of Trustees, holding several positions during his tenure. In addition to board service, he has been actively involved in other aspects of SDAHO by serving on various committees and attending his first Annual Convention in 1994.

According to Mark, one of the reasons he enjoys serving on the SDAHO board is the opportunity to get back way more than you give and the ability to be exposed to so many unique communities and health care providers. “The board is comprised of such a diverse group of professionals,” states Mark.

Mark encourages other health care professionals to consider being part of an association as it will expose them to so many learning opportunities. “You can learn from other professionals from all disciplines and this allows you to gain a very well rounded view of health care from urban, rural and frontier perspectives. The education and advocacy provided is so valuable, giving you a chance to listen and learn in areas that may not be in your normal responsibilities,” said Mark.

Congratulations, Mark Schmidt and thank you for your service to SDAHO.
