Free Palliative Care Training Videos for Case Managers

The MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care is offering free Palliative Care Training Videos for Case Managers.

The MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care is a New York-based not-for-profit organization affiliated with MJHS, the integrated health system founded by the Four Brooklyn Ladies in 1907.  The goal of the MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care is to promote access to evidence-based, specialist-level palliative care for patients and families coping with serious or advanced illness, whenever and wherever palliative care is need across the continuum of health care. They pursue this goal through an array of on-site and web-based educational programs and thorough research that focuses on the needs of populations with serious illness.

The Executive Director of the Institute is Russell Portenoy, MD. Voted one of the 30 “visionaries” in palliative care by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, he is responsible for overseeing organization, planning, implementation, tracking and dissemination of the Institute’s work.  He is Editor-in Chief of the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, the official journal of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and co-edits the Oxford Textbook of Palliative Medicine.”

The Institute is now offering a 13 FREE on-demand series of webinars covering topics in palliative care relevant to case managers caring for seriously ill patients. The webinars focus on understanding the needs and care options for those with serious illness from the time of diagnosis through the end of life with an emphasis on communicating with patients, families, and providers. Continuing Education credit is available and approved through the Commission for Case Manger Certification. Courses are taught by experts in the field and include:
