This years conference offers a  variety of topics and sessions, including addressing the nursing home crisis with robust conversations on ways to invest in our Healthcare Workforce.

The nursing home crisis in South Dakota is a hot topic in Pierre this year, due to seven nursing home closures in 2022, inadequate Medicaid provider rates, workforce shortage, aging facilities, and a challenging regulatory environment.  The problem will not go away any time soon, as the population of adults age 65 and older has increased from 47.8 million people in 2015 to 88 million people in 2050. It is estimated that 70% of people who reach the age of 65 will ultimately need some form of long-term services and supports.

SDAHO is working with our members and the community to educate, engage and promote the whole continuum of long-term services and support systems at the 2023 Post-Acute Partners Care Conference.

The conference focus will be on leadership, innovation, preparedness, and workforce strategies to address the needs of our providers who serve residents in nursing homes, home health, hospice and assisted living facilities. The opening keynote presenter is Donna Wright who will provide a motivational message of “Do not be a Half-Way Leader”. The closing keynote is Dan Meers, the mascot of the Kansas City Chiefs, who will inspire the audience with a message of “Living a Life of Influence”.

For more information or to register visit our website or contact the SDAHO office at 605-361-2281. The conference is open to both members and non-members of SDAHO.
