The purpose of the HOPE Waiver is to provide home and community-based services to South Dakotans age 65 and older as well as individuals age 18 years of age and older who have a qualifying disability, to allow them to remain at home or in the least restrictive environment available. Services are based on assessed need and may include, but are not limited to adult day, homemaker, personal care, nursing, respite, specialized medical equipment and supplies, adult companion services, assisted living, structured family caregiving, environmental accessibility adaptations, in-home nursing, meals and nutritional supplements, and emergency response systems.

The HOPE Waiver amendment is available for public comment for 30 days from May 1, 2023, to May 30, 2023. You can view the HOPE Waiver amendment online here or contact LTSS to request a printed copy. We encourage you to view this information and participate in a town hall conference call on May 18 at 2pm CST.
