Trauma Informed Care – Strategies for Compliance & Quality

SDAHO will host a 2-part webinar series on Trauma Informed Care by providing strategies to achieve compliance and quality.  Barbara Speedling will present on the Trauma-Informed Care and Behavioral Health federal regulations for long-term care facilities. Beyond differentiating between dementia and psychiatric illness or addictions, the facility staff must have a working knowledge of the interventions and services necessary to achieve quality care for a rapidly changing population.

Part 1: Tuesday, October 24, 12pm CST/11am MST

During part one of the series, Barbara will provide an overview of the regulatory expectations for person-centered and trauma-informed care planning. She will cover the five guiding principles of trauma-informed care and the common stages of grief.

Part 2: Tuesday, October 31, 12pm CST/11am MST

Part two of the series will include assessment and evaluation of the behavioral health needs of residents and staff.  She will cover assessment considerations in behavioral health, such as impaired verbal communication, sleep pattern disturbance, and social isolation.  Lastly, she’ll discuss ways to improve communication and ways to prevent abuse and neglect.
