Avera Opens Hospice Rooms Offering More Care for Aberdeen Area Residents

Avera Health has recently opened three hospice rooms at the Nano Nagle Assisted Living Center, which is a part of the Mother Joseph Manor Community. These rooms provide additional care to patients and their families. Stacey Briese, Clinical Coordinator with Nano Nagle Village Avera, said that this was a long-standing need in their community, and no one else was offering this service there.

All three hospice rooms are fully furnished and come with a sleeper sofa, which allows family members to stay in the room with their loved ones. These rooms are stocked with everything that patients and their family members need during their stay, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, dishes, linens for the bed and the sleeper sofa. The rooms are beautifully decorated and provide a ‘home-like’ feeling. In addition, each room has a Keurig machine, microwave, full-size refrigerator, and toaster, which enables friends and family members to stay in the rooms as needed, offering privacy and dignity to everyone during such a difficult time.

According to Briese, Nano Nagle’s new hospice units are more like a fully stocked apartment, which allows the entire family to feel comfortable and at ease. Additionally, there is a 24-hour care team available with a nurse and CNA on duty at all times, ensuring the patient’s comfort and care. The feedback received so far has been very positive and encouraging, with families expressing gratitude for this service and the privacy and dignity that it provides.
