National Healthcare Decisions Day April 16

In this world, as Benjamin Franklin famously remarked, nothing is certain except death and taxes. That’s why, every year on April 16, the day after Tax Day, we observe National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD). The Conversation Project and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement have joined forces to provide all the resources you need to promote this event in your organization and community. NHDD aims to demystify healthcare decision-making and highlight the importance of advance care planning. It emphasizes that this process is not just about filling out living wills but is a holistic approach that involves conversation and choosing a healthcare agent.

This year, SDAHO has partnered with the Department of Health’s South Dakota Cancer Coalition to present a webinar featuring Katie Huff, DNP, FNP-BC, ACHPN, Certified Nurse Practitioner with Avera Medical Group-Palliative Medicine in Yankton. Katie will discuss palliative care and advance care planning. The webinar is scheduled for April 16 at 9:00 am CT/8:00 am MT. You can click here to register for this event.
