In 2024, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) merged to form a stronger, unified and more intentional approach to collaboration to impact the work of care at home. This organization became The Alliance for Care at Home (The Alliance).
The Alliance is a national organization whose mission is to be the leading authority in transforming care in the home. They are an inclusive thought leader, advocate, educator, and convener and the unifying voice for those providing and receiving healthcare through all stages of life. Their vision is for every American to have access to the highest quality, person-centered healthcare wherever they call home.
The Alliance offers its members access to Advocacy, Education, Resources for Home Health, Hospice, Medicaid HCBS, Palliative Care and Home Care. SDAHO is one of 10,000 members made up of individuals, state associations and other businesses and non-profits that work in home care, hospice and palliative care. With these resources, SDAHO can bring expert guidance to our members and gives us a voice at the national policy level.
They recently held its first Annual Meeting & Exposition in New Orleans where over 1,700 industry leaders where sessions focused on “industry challenges, innovative best practices and fostering meaningful connections” according to the November 6 press release. In attendance were SDAHO members from Monument Health- Michelle Sieveke, MSN, BSN, RN, Director of Home Plus Home Health and Hospice and Palliative Care and two of her colleagues – Susan Johnson, Nurse Manager and Amelia Schmitt, Business Intelligence Analyst.
According to the Monument Health team, “The Conference for the National Alliance for Care at Home was an excellent opportunity to network and learn from other home health, hospice and palliative care providers. There is so much activity going on with AI in home care and it was great to hear about some of those advancements. We came back recharged and inspired by all the education and connections we made with other conference attendees!” Also in attendance was Annette Lee, founder of Provider Insights and frequent esteemed webinar presenter to SDAHO members on all things Medicare compliance.
