DOH’s Office of Licensure and Certification announces changes to the Online Healthcare Facility Event Report System

The South Dakota Office of Licensure and Certification shared details regarding enhancements to the South Dakota Department of Health’s Online Required Healthcare Facility Event Reporting System. This is scheduled to go live on Monday March 9, 2026

What’s Changing?

Currently, only facility administrators can submit required event reports. Beginning on Monday afternoon, administrators will be able to authorize additional staff to create individual user accounts. This will allow designated team members to independently log in and complete event reports on behalf of the facility.

As part of this system upgrade, all existing user accounts will be reset. The facility administrator will need to set up their account again before creating or approving any additional users. Instructions are included in the attachment.

Benefits of This Update:

  • Increased flexibility for facility operations
  • A more streamlined and efficient reporting process
  • Shared responsibility among approved users
  • Improved timeliness and accuracy of reporting

Additionally, we are introducing multi-factor authentication (MFA) to the portal for enhanced security.

Next Steps

Please review the attached step-by-step instructions to guide you through the process of setting up and approving additional new user accounts. These enhancements are designed to improve usability and support your continued compliance with reporting requirements.

Please note that the facility administrator will also be responsible for removing or deactivating user accounts as staffing changes occur.
