Free HIPAA training scheduled for healthcare providers

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) is providing free HIPAA training specifically for smaller-sized health care providers. The training is to assist providers in understanding responsibilities under the HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rules.

The training is appropriate for all types of health care provider practices, including dental, medical, nursing, chiropractic, physical therapy, mental health, optometry, podiatry, EMS, pharmacy, critical access hospital, etc.

Training dates and locations include:

  • Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Prairie Lakes Medical Office Building in Watertown
  • Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Mount Marty College in Yankton
