LeadingAge advises HHS on post-acute payment system

LeadingAge participated Sep. 24 as a technical expert on a panel providing input to the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) on developing a unified post-acute care payment system.

HHS, under the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation (IMPACT) Act of 2014, must design a Medicare payment system covering skilled nursing facilities, home health, long-term care hospitals and inpatient rehabilitation facilities. Working with the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, HHS is to report on a draft unified payment system and plan for implementing it by 2022 – 2023.
