This session will review CMS authority to impose a CMP and the factors used by CMS in assessing CMPs against facilities. Session will review how CMPs are calculated and the basic amounts of CMPs. Can they be increased or decreased? When are CMPs actually collected? What are the appeal options through Informal Dispute Resolution (IDR), Independent Informal Dispute Resolution (IIDR) and Departmental Appeal Board (DAB)?
