SDAHO is excited to announce the launch of a new price transparency site. The new site, South Dakota Hospitals Charge Compare, provides healthcare consumers basic information about inpatient and ambulatory services and charges at South Dakota hospitals. The new site replaces the previous SD Price Point.
SDAHO serves as the intermediary for the South Dakota Department of Health in the collection of hospital data for public health purposes as required by SDCL 34-12E-11, 34-12E-11.1, 34-12E-12, and 34-12E-13. Data for the site is obtained through inpatient and outpatient claims data bases. The new site offers consumers a more user friendly, simple method to obtain charge information on select services by a step-by-step process to compare hospital charges. The new site is active as of 8/30/2022 and can be found on the SDAHO website at SDAHO.org and various other hospitals and state websites.
SD Hospitals Charge Compare, should be utilized as a starting point for comparing costs of care between South Dakota hospitals. Consumers should contact individual hospitals to receive further details about the possible cost of care. In addition, consumers should talk with their insurance carrier to understand which costs are covered, and which will be the patient’s responsibility. If you have questions about the new site you may contact Becky Heisinger, Director of Quality Integration at Becky.Heisinger@sdaho.org or by phone at 605-789-7529.
