Scrubs Camps give high school students a taste of health care careers

The South Dakota Department of Health offers free Scrubs Camps for high school students thinking of pursuing a career in health care.

The one-day, hands-on experience allows students to rub elbows with health care pros. The camps provide an opportunity for students to experience first-hand, the challenges, opportunities and rewards of health careers.

Attendees might get to learn how to respond to an emergency, fix a broken bone, remove a mole (from the skin of a banana) and more. Camps are held throughout the state and each one is tailored to the interests of the students in that area.
