SDAHO’s Jacob Parsons to Present at SDHFMA Winter Conference

The South Dakota Chapter of the Healthcare Finance Management Association (HFMA) is hosting their Winter Conference on December 13, 2023, from 12:30 PM to 5 PM CT. The conference will be held virtually and will consist of three speaker sessions, a business meeting, and a virtual categories event.

Jacob Parsons, the Fiscal Policy Director at SDAHO, will be presenting at the virtual meeting. He will be discussing Medicaid Expansion and giving a legislative update. Parsons has been monitoring Medicaid Expansion since voters approved it in 2022, and he will share the specifics of how many individuals are utilizing it and what the dollar amounts look like.

The conference will cover various topics, including:

  • 340B Updates
  • Medicaid Expansion/Legislative Update
  • CMS Final Rule
  • Virtual Social Network

Governor Kristi Noem recently delivered a budget address where she shared her recommendations for the remainder of the fiscal year 2024 and the budget for fiscal year 2025. Parsons attended this year’s budget address and shared that the governor is proposing a 4% across-the-board increase for all providers. He also mentioned that there were many issues addressed during the speech, and SDAHO’s advocacy team will be in Pierre for the entire legislative session to address any healthcare issues that may arise.
