Hospital Preparedness is a top priority for SDAHO

SDAHO would like to thank the South Dakota Department of Health for their 2025 Public Health Preparedness and Response Conference March 19-20 in Chamberlain. SDAHO’s COO, Tammy Hatting, attended the 2-day conference where she participated in the pre-conference MGT 383 Emergency Operations Plans for Rural Jurisdictions FEMA training and the full-day event where the department touched on the important issues of writing emergency plans, workplace violence, working with partners, volunteer programs, experiences from the field and concept of operations.

SDAHO is proud to be a partner with the South Dakota Department of Health, our hospitals and emergency preparedness response teams across the state. It is our duty to be ready, to respond and to recover from threats and emergencies and we thank our first responders and law enforcement officials for their support of our healthcare facilities.

Now is the time for our members to identify threats, write a plan and exercise the plan. The main takeaway from the training was the quote “The only thing harder than planning for an emergency is explaining why you didn’t.
