Registration is open for the South Dakota Rural Health Leaders Conference, planned for June 14-15 at the Drifters Conference Center in Fort Pierre.
This new event for rural health leaders has been planned by the South Dakota Healthcare Financial Management Association, Community HealthCare Association of the Dakotas, the Office of Rural Health and SDAHO.
Conference sessions have been designed for CEOs, CFOs, administrators, directors and other hospital and clinic leaders. We’ll kick things off with a networking lunch, where attendees will have the chance to interact with other health care leaders from across the state.
Our opening speaker, Benjamin Anderson, CEO at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas, will share compelling stories from a frontier facility and make a case for effective, sustainable reform. Lt. Gov. Matt Michels will be on hand to offer his perspective on caring for South Dakota’s rural populations.
Attendees on Thursday evening can unwind for at a social and dinner followed by fun and relaxation. Games will be set up on the green space along the Missouri River, where attendees can play bocce ball or bean bag toss.
Education panels will highlight:
- Guests from the USD PA program, Mount Marty College and Board of Nursing will discuss advanced practice professionals and the important role they play in the delivery of care in our rural state
- Exploring the benefits of a community paramedic program
- Advancing healthy communities through quality integration
- USDA update with representative from that program
- The latest information from the Office of Rural Health
- Integrating behavioral health into primary care
