Overview:
Learn 16 specific, simple things to check for to prevent fall- and fire-related injuries in the homes of older adults. Learn how and why these key components can do the most good. Some are actions, like regular eye exams or clearing trip hazards; some are physical things in the home such as grab bars and night lights.
Presenters:
Monica Colby, Fire and Life Safety Specialist, and Lisa Saunders, Lead Fire Corps Volunteer, teach older adult fall and fire prevention for the Rapid City Fire Department using a nationally proven program, Remembering When by the National Fire Protection Association. Monica has just over 20 years’ experience in convincing people to change their behavior and environment so that they never need the fire department. Lisa keeps Monica sane and young with her passion for safety and demonstrating that white hair doesn’t mean that you can’t crawl through mud at an obstacle race.
