Residents of long-term care facilities are at risk of infections circulating in the community and healthcare-associated infections. This presentation will review those risks, their significance and how they occur, as well as provide evidence-based infection prevention and control best practices to protect residents. These infection prevention practices include hand hygiene; environmental cleaning and disinfecting; and ensuring designation of multidisciplinary oversight groups to detect, treat, contain and prevent the transmission of potential pathogens. The program will also offer resources to support your efforts toward improving infection control for your residents and staff.
