Overview:

Lessons in leadership are extremely important in organizational communication. Not only must communicators have the ability to deftly engage and counsel all levels of leaders, they must also recognize when leaders are unethical, ineffective, or when they pose other risks to the organization. This session will review the basics of effective organizational communication, the importance of a communication strategy, the role of different
communicators within the organization, training for better communication and methods for measuring results.

Presenter:

Jennifer Anderson, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the School of Communication & Journalism at South Dakota State University (SDSU). She founded and coordinates the Health Communication Minor at SDSU. She has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles on health communication, dealing with topics like health stigmas, indigenous (American Indian) health, women’s health, and civic engagement with health issues. She has led research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Bush Foundation, and most recently, the South Dakota Department of Health. Additionally, she has conducted community perception studies for the Brookings Health System in 2016 and 2020. She is currently developing a health communication textbook called Health Communication: Diverse Voices in Conversations about Health. Dr. Anderson has lived in Brookings, SD, and worked at SDSU, since 2012. She has been married to her husband, Justin, for close to 17 years. She and Justin have two children, Winter (age 7) and Mercury (age 3).

Registration:

Registration for this webinar series is per connection needed at a facility. This allows multiple staff members to participate in the education using one connection. Prior registration is required to ensure connection information and applicable materials are distributed prior to the webinars. The registration fee for this series is $249 per SDAHO Member facility/$399 per non-member facility.
