AHA launches ad urging Congress to protect health coverage for most vulnerable

The American Hospital Association (AHA) has launched a television ad urging Congress to protect health coverage for the most vulnerable as it considers legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The 30-second ad can be watched above or viewed on YouTube. It began airing last weekend on national cable and in the Washington, D.C., market, including during the Sunday morning talk shows. It is also appearing online and on social media in part of the AHA’s larger strategy to create and sustain a conversation about health coverage and its importance, particularly for our nation’s most vulnerable citizens.

The U.S. House of Representatives could vote on legislation to repeal and replace parts of the ACA as early as Thursday. The bill – the American Health Care Act – would have a significant impact on health care coverage, with the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimating that 14 million more people would be uninsured in 2018 and nearly 24 million people would lose coverage over the next 10 years.

SDAHO, the AHA and LeadingAge are continuing to ask members to reach out to their representatives to talk about the bill.
