A new rural family medicine residency program in Pierre, a product of collaboration between Sanford Health and Avera Health, received accreditation last week. The program will be overseen by the Center for Family Medicine, a nonprofit educational corporation founded by Avera and Sanford Health more than 40 years ago.
Applications are now being accepted through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for the inaugural class of residents to begin July 2018. Residents will spend their first year in Sioux Falls, followed by two years in Pierre. The program will be housed in Sanford Health Clinic in Pierre, however residents will work in both Avera St. Mary’s Hospital and Sanford Health Clinic. Click here to learn more.
