Community palliative care providers urged to submit info for online directory

The Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC), in collaboration with the National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care, has launched an initiative to build a comprehensive inventory of community palliative care programs across all service settings, including home, office/clinic and long-term care.

Community palliative care providers are urged to submit information for inclusion in the provider directory on GetPalliativeCare.org, the leading online resource for palliative care information for people with serious illness and their families. To be listed, completion of a brief 10-minute survey on the Mapping Community Palliative Care website is required.

LeadingAge is supporting this important project as it will promote the expansion of community palliative care by identifying programs currently available in the community setting making it easier for patients, families, caregivers and practitioners to find local resources to meet their needs. While there is growing research demonstrating the positive impact of palliative care in these settings, there are no reliable data on (non-hospice) palliative care capacity outside of hospitals.
