Larry Vietz was the former president of Spearfish Regional Hospital and the Spearfish market for Regional Health. Larry cared immensely for healthcare in Spearfish and the community as a whole. Everyone who knew Larry knew the real, genuine, caring and faithful man that he was. Larry made a significant difference in healthcare as he was highly instrumental in positively advancing health care at the local, regional, state and national level. Larry passed away in 2017 as the result of an ATV accident. Larry is remembered and respected by the healthcare community for his lasting dedication to healthcare in his community and South Dakota. Randy embodies the same characteristics, commitment and dedication to healthcare that Larry did. Today, Randy is responsible for the successful planning and implementation of operational, strategic and financial goals for Sanford Healths’ senior care services division. Randy also works with the Good Samaritan Society’s board of directors and manages all Society senior level executive leaders.
Randy has remained an advocate for excellence in healthcare during his 37 years serving in executive leadership, that spanned across the region. While at Sanford USD Medical Center, Randy was chief operating officer, chief administrative officer, executive vice president and vice president of patient services. At the corporate level, Randy most recently served as the organizations chief administrative officer and previous held the role of senior vice president of health services administration. In 2020, Randy was elected to the board of governors for the American Health Care Association, the nations largest association of long-term and post-acute care providers. He is a past president of the South Dakota chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives and past board member of the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations. He has served on several local boards of directors and the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
Randy is a graduate of Augustana University where he earned a degree in healthcare administration. He also holds a Master of Business Administration in healthcare administration from California Pacific University. Randy and his wife Sonia have two sons.
