Monument Health Spearfish is this month’s South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) Hometown Healthcare hero member facility. To help member facilities with workforce needs, SDAHO launched the Hometown Healthcare Heroes campaign. This storytelling campaign is designed to recognize career opportunities at member facilities and celebrate the people that work there and the communities they live in.
Skyler Langer, RN with Monument Health Spearfish worked in healthcare in high school in his hometown of Spearfish, South Dakota. When it came time to earn his nursing degree and choose where he would begin his healthcare career, he knew his hometown was the perfect location. “The people I work with are really close nit and there is always someone willing to help with anything, whether it’s our management, our other co-workers or even doctors. I work with a physician in the emergency room and he will check people in to the ER, he will play clerk if we are busy in another room.
