November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month

November is the month dedicated to raising awareness about the benefits of quality hospice and palliative care. This year’s theme is “Courageous Conversations.” As part of these conversations, healthcare professionals aim to educate the public about the difference between hospice and palliative care. They also emphasize the advantages of working with an interdisciplinary team when dealing with a serious illness, regardless of the diagnosis or prognosis. Finally, they highlight the importance of whole-person care that covers physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.

If you are looking for some ideas to promote and celebrate this month, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) has provided an entire toolkit for you to use, including the Hospice and Palliative Care Month (HAPCM) Overview. You can also check out the brochure created by LifeCircle SD members, which can be printed and used for an event.

Please let us know what you plan to do so that we can help you promote the event or share pictures (with appropriate photo releases) during the month. You can send your items to: michele.snyders@sdaho.org.
