Scholarships Available for Hospice and Palliative Care Certification Exam Expense

The Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) has just announced the Dandra Lee Schafer Certification Scholarships. These are awarded to nurses and other members of the Interprofessional team to cover the cost of obtaining or renewing your HPCC certification.

Certification is one way to demonstrate your skills and expertise in Hospice and Palliative Care. According to the HPCC website, certification “involves a process that validates and evaluates one’s expertise in a specialty area. While licensure assures minimal competency to practice in a field, certification indicates mastery of a defined body of knowledge.”

HPCC is part of the Hospice & Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) and the Hospice & Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF), but it offers six hospice and palliative certification exams to not only nurses but also for other members of the interdisciplinary team including: advanced practice nurses, registered nurses, pediatric hospice and palliative nurses, licensed/vocational nurses, nursing assistants, and social workers. They also maintain the certified hospice and palliative care administrator and the certified in perinatal loss care credentials. Nearly 14,500 health care professionals hold HPCC credentials that establish a professional commitment to safe, ethical, and evidence-based care. Find out more about their credentials here.

To apply for the scholarship, click here. Deadline to apply is November 1, 2024, so if you have already obtained your certification/recertification in 2024 or plan to sit for an exam before December 31, 2024, HPCC encourages you to apply!
